Who Are We?

Pursuit of God was born out of the conviction that the ultimate goal of all of life is the red hot worship of God. Whether it be a Sunday service, Missions, Evangelism or simply living on a day to day basis. God has created us to make much of Him, and live lives that enjoy Him and portray His goodness. Thus we exist to help people Seek, Savour and Share Jesus with the world in order to see the red hot worship of Jesus throughout all the earth.

What Do We Believe?

God

• We believe in one God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – eternally existing in three persons.
• He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, sovereign, holy, and worthy of all worship.

Scripture

• We believe that the Bible, in its original writings, is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God.
• All of Scripture points to Jesus Christ and God’s redemptive plan.

Jesus Christ

• We believe that Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man. He is the exact image of the invisible God.
• Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, He lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again bodily on the third day.
• He ascended to heaven and now reigns at the right hand of God. He will return to judge the living and the dead.

The Holy Spirit

• We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He is God.
• He applies salvation, indwells believers, convicts the world of sin and righteousness, empowers us for holy living and mission, and reminds us of God’s truth.
• Through Him, and with the help of the Scriptures and the Church, we are sanctified and shaped into the image of Jesus.

Humanity

• We believe that humanity was created by God—male and female—in His image.
• We were created to reflect God’s character, represent Him well in the world, and extend His worship across the earth.
• Humanity chose to reject God’s authority wisdom and goodness, choosing autonomy over dependence. As a result, we fell into sin, which brought spiritual death, brokenness, and bondage to all areas of life.
• In our fallen state, we are unable to save ourselves and stand in need of divine rescue.

Salvation

• We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
• On the cross, Jesus bore the wrath of God and the full weight of our sin.
•  In His resurrection, He conquered death and opened the way to eternal life.
• All who trust in Christ are reconciled to God, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, restored to community with other believers, and welcomed into a new and everlasting life of heartfelt worship and purpose.
• This faith, when true, produces worship, obedience, and good works.
• We look forward to the full realization of our salvation when we will be resurrected and reign with Christ in the new heavens and new earth.

The Church

• We believe in the universal Church—all believers in Christ across time and place—and its local expression in gathered communities.
• Together, we are Christ’s body on earth— called to make disciples, declare truth, gather together in unity and display Christ.

The Christian Life

• We believe the Christian life is one of joyful wholehearted worship—responding rightly to what God has said and done.
• True worship includes obedience, holiness, thanksgiving, community, and mission.
• All of life is meant to make much of Christ.

The End of All Things

• We believe that Christ will return to judge the living and the dead.
• Those united to Him by faith will be raised to everlasting life in the new heavens and new earth, where we will reign with Him and fully live out our original purpose—to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
• Those who reject Christ will face God’s just judgment—including separation from His goodness and blessings, and the experience of His holy wrath.
